NOW is the time to create an actionable marketing plan!

Marketing plan target

24 March 2020

Times are tough, many businesses are in survival mode and marketing for new customers is not necessarily something at the front of mind.

For many businesses, the level of day-to-day work, on the whole, may be dropping off whilst the restrictions imposed by the Government take hold. However, for some, the restrictions may cause additional workload that can take time or focus away from marketing activity.

This approach is wrong! If anything, now is the time to strengthen and bolster your marketing strategy, pull back the bow prepare to launch with POWER as soon as the time is right!

Remember to use NOW as an opportunity!

Whilst the focus may be different, there are a few key points that you should consider in order to see the current situation as an opportunity rather than battening everything down:

  1. NOW is just temporary

In a couple of months, we should be back to normal and whilst there will undoubtedly be a backlog, it is important to start off on the front-foot.

Using either the time that is created effectively or keeping your foot on the gas will mean that you should be ahead of your competitors at a later date.

  2. Your customers have new needs. Adapt & thrive

Whilst this is undoubtedly a challenging time for many, there are more than likely to be opportunities for you to introduce new services and / or products or adapt current ways of working that will be of be great help to your customers. We have seen this, for example, with restaurants offering takeaway services.

It is through adapting to your customers needs and clearly communicating these that you will not only further gain their trust (and hopefully pick up a few new clients in the process) but also protect your business for the future.

  3. Adjust your focus

The focus and tone of marketing that you were doing as little as even two weeks ago is probably no longer appropriate. You should certainly continue with your marketing, but do so in manner that maximises the opportunity.

For example, you may need to adjust the tone of your messaging to assure customers about the reliability (or cleanliness for trades who are key workers) of your service, use new avenues to reach your audience and build your brand. Remain positive and see the opportunities!

  4. Get those projects done & prepare for ‘post COVID-19’

The last point is a simple one. Every business has a marketing project that has been on hold due to time and now may be the perfect opportunity to get it done!

Use the time to prepare your marketing plan and materials for a post COVID-19 world and we can pretty much guarantee that you will come back stronger.

You have a perfect opportunity to pull back the bow, reach new customers, build your new pipeline and lunch the arrow stronger than ever before! Make the most of it!
