Email marketing is a proven way to build your brand, keep your leads warm, engage with your customers and help them to keep buying from you time and time again! Email marketing is often under-used by small businesses, however for a very low cost it can reap some great rewards!

We thought we would put together our top five tips to help you make the most of email marketing. We would recommend using something like Mailchimp to get started as it is a low cost and relatively simple to use.

Tip One: Build Your Brand

We all want to have a strong brand, but what does this mean? Basically, it means letting as many people know that you are the expert in your field and the go-to person for that product / service. When they need what you provide, they will know you are there, ready for their call!

Marketing is not necessarily about direct selling (yeah, we know, that’s a bit of a shock to hear!), but all about being useful. Building your brand through email communications is all about providing something that your customers will find valuable (like advice, tips, industry updates etc).

Tip Two: Keep Your Leads Warm

It can be frustrating when you have spent time putting together a proposal for a client, who goes cold on you! Yes, not all customers will buy and this is for various reasons, but utilising email communication will help let them know that you are here, as and when they need you. If someone has enquired with you, you can contact them about the service you provide!

How can you keep leads warm? Maybe keep them up to date with the latest industry news, help them understand the value of the service that you provide (and why you are the only person they should use) or you could send them bespoke offers. There’s loads of ideas and it’s maybe time for you to try a few out!

So, they’ve already purchased from you and are happy with their product / service. Utilising email communications is a brilliant way to keep your customers up to date with your latest company news, offers and services.

If you see email communications as a value-add to your customers, then giving them exclusive tips and tricks is an excellent way to increase their satisfaction level!

Tip Four: Get Your Customers To Buy Again

The easiest people to get to buy from you should be your customers who have purchased in the past / currently use your service. Are there additional products / services that they may benefit from or special offers that may be of interest? 

Just remember, email marketing only works when the person receiving the email perceived value out of reading it, so make sure that any sales-focused emails are relevant and meet this point otherwise you will go straight into the bin!
